Manufacturing has been a part of San Antonio since the Canary Island settlers began raising cattle in the early 1730's.  Nearly 200 years later, local manufacturers met to form an organization that would promote the interests of the city's industry and educate the public in the merits of consuming more goods and wares manufactured, prepared, or produced right here in San Antonio.

In 1914, these manufacturers drew up a list of by-laws, secured a charter, and founded the San Antonio Manufacturers Association (SAMA).  Manufacturing has an impact and is growing in this area.  With an improved economy to bolster our current manufacturers and new companies such as Texas Machining Enterprises and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, manufacturing in San Antonio can again be a force to be reckoned with!  SAMA will stay at the forefront protecting and promoting our members' interests.
